Shawna Wangseng

Shawna’s large mixed media works made from vintage fabrics evoke multiple realities in the space they occupy and link to the romanticized time of early 70’s, a “hey day” as a huge part of Shawna’s childhood memory.

Shawna’s works take inspiration from her surroundings, from the environment she’s living in, from the everyday and its seemingly monotony, surfing on the fragile line of souvenir, disappointment and questioning, with subtlety and poetry. Utilizing imagery referencing vast farmlands, small prairie towns and whimsical travel trailers, her work simultaneously summon both contentment and adventure.
